Specialized, low-profile 0.1" spaced round-pin, machined, 10-pin breakaway header that can be easily cut into whatever length is required. This header is usually attached to the target board, making a very low-profile connection point for tight/complex installations.
A programming port such as a PIC ISCP, or Arduino serial connection would be a good use for this style of connector. They are also used to make very compact board "stacks", where the height of two stacked boards must be as small as possible.
The shrouded design makes them less likely to short than exposed pins.
