A super-handy mini-shield for the Cal-Eng BreadBoarder series. It offers headers for standard 2x8 LCDs and mini-LCD displays that use a ribbon cable, I2C/Wire interface, and lots of extra I/O headers that use the standard hobby-servo pinout (-/+/signal).
It also features four I/O headers that are powered at battery voltage (Vin) level (or via an independent regulator) for high-speed servos, and other high or low-voltage uses. The optional 5V 1A is included, but not installed. If the regulator is installed, the jumper-trace between the regulator input & output must be cut. (see photo) Note that if powered by USB, there will be no voltage available on the four independently-powered I/O headers. If needed, a simple jumper wire from +5V to the empty regulator pad would resolve this issue.
Due to the differences in I2C/Wire pin definitions on the ATmega328 versus the ATmega32U4, a switch has been added to choose between the host MCU type. If only one kind of MCU will be used, two simple wire jumpers could be used instead.
If required, the included I2C switch and/or 5V regulator will need to be soldered in place.
